B's New Theme Song
B and I got all decked out in our bidness attire for his interview at the consulate today. My O.C.D. comes in handy when it comes to filling out stacks of paperwork over and over again. They made a point of telling us how complete our paperwork was. They only asked us a few questions:
1) To B: How did you meet?
2) To B: And you plan to stay employed at your present company?
-- A few follow up questions and jokes about how the Euro is stronger than the dollar
3) To Me regarding my form I-864 where I swear to support B financially forever: And you are self-employed at the moment?
4) To B: Have you been in Pennsylvania recently?
The last one was really weird, and she never elaborated on it.
Nevertheless, the woman approved his application - hooray! - save for any weirdness that turns up in the computer. We're planning to hit the tarmac in Dulles sometime around the 15th. So, yins better start the party planning.
Meanwhile, this song always gives me butterflies and brings tears to my eyes, ever since some crazy 4th of July fireworks extravaganza I saw on TV in the 80s - you know complete with people dressed up in their Oliver Twisty immigrant finery running around with jazz hands every time Neil shouts "Today!". Who knew that the Ellis Island experience was so Broadway?
As part of B's path to becoming a real, live 'merican I felt that learning all the lyrics to this classic should be at the top of his list. Luckily I found this version where you can hear the lyrics quite clearly.
You know you loved some "Kids Incorporated" back in the day. Don't lie. And dude, that blonde one is Fergie. Seriously. It's kinda nasty looking at her all 8 years old and shit knowing what she grows up to be like.

Welcome back in advance. We'll have a party with lots of fritos and apple pie and the sweet, sweet air of freedom.
